Aurora Police/Kane County Deputies Staging 'Tip-A-Cop'

Numerous Aurora Police officers and Kane County Sheriffs deputies will be trading their badges for aprons on July 9 when they stage “Tip-A-Cop” to raise money for Special Olympics Illinois.

From 5-9 p.m., the officers and deputies will be waiting tables at Buffalo Wild Wings, 1460 N. Orchard Rd., Aurora, collecting money for Special Olympics. Not only will they donate the tips they receive to the organization, but Buffalo Wild Wings will also donate 10% of all food purchases to the cause from 11 a.m. until midnight. In order for the 10% donation to apply, patrons should tell their servers that they are there for the Special Olympics fund raising.

The event is one of several being organized by Aurora Police this year as they continue their tradition of supporting Special Olympics. Aurora Police officers and support personnel have raised just under $11,000 so far this year after raising over $15,000 last year.

Special Olympics Illinois provides year-round training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
