Land Use and Zoning
Mission Statement
To provide assistance and proper follow-through for purposes of efficient and courteous service to the public and City representatives in the implementation of the City's policies regarding land use regulation and zoning enforcement.
Major Functions
- Implement City policy through effective review and efficient processing of land use petitions by devoting proper staff resources to current planning issues, while maintaining efforts in all other aspects of the division's responsibilities.
- Review and process land use petitions involving variations, rezoning, special use applications, preliminary subdivision plats, final subdivision plats, preliminary plans for planned developments and final plans for planned developments.
- Disseminate accurate and complete information in response to public inquiries in the form of Land Use Referrals.
- Review and check for compliance with zoning regulations on all building permits.
- Verify the conformance of implemented site plans with approved documents.
- Update and print the following publications annually: Aurora Zoning Map, Aurora Zoning Ordinance, and the Aurora Sign Ordinance.
- Provide enforcement of the Aurora Zoning Ordinance.
